GREENWICH - Greenwich police say a 5-year-old boy nearly drowned in a private pool.

The Greenwich Emergency Medical Service responded to the call and applauds quick thinking by an adult who knew CPR.

Officials say paramedics were at the house on Winthrop Drive within minutes, but before they arrived an adult started the life-saving maneuver.

Greenwich police say the young boy was at a party. His name has not yet been released.

Police say five mothers and eight children were at the home.

Police report the mothers were inside eating lunch and watching the children swim through a window.

One mother couldn't see her 5-year-old son anymore and ran outside.

The Greenwich Emergency Medical Service's executive director says the mom pulled the boy from the pool. He was not wearing a life vest and had been supported only by a foam noodle.

Police say another mother knew CPR and performed it until paramedics showed up.
