GREENWICH - Greenwich town officials are warning beach-goers that there won't be any lifeguards on duty for the rest of the season because of a staff shortage.

Parks and Recreation director Joseph Sicilliano says that a good portion of the town's lifeguards are college students who have returned to campus.

He says that there will still be a lifeguard presence, just on a smaller scale.

Parks and Recreation department says that although there are not enough lifeguards to remain fully staffed, there will still be lifeguards at first aid stations at Greenwich Point and Island Beach only, along with foot patrols at those same beaches.

With the smaller lifeguard presence through Labor Day, town officials are urging beach-goers to comply with all posted signs.
