GREENWICH - Police and fire officials in Greenwich are pointing to arson as the possible cause of a construction site fire last night.

Police say the flames broke out shortly after 11:30 p.m. at a home on Lockwood Road. An excavator caught fire and police say an accelerant was used to ignite it. Neighbors say they recall hearing an explosion and that the excavator's windows were blown out.

Authorities say the fire may be connected to two similar construction site fires in the same area of town within the past year.

No one was hurt.
