GREENWICH - Connecticut Light and Power confirmed today that it plans to shut its service center in Greenwich by the end of the next year.

The announcement has drawn anger from local leaders, who fear closing the facility would increase what they say has already been a long response rate during outages.
CL&P says the closure is part of a consolidation effort by its parent company that will affect Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. They add that the closure is a cost-cutting move and that it won't impact service.
