Greenwich residents warned to watch out for coyotes

GREENWICH - Greenwich Animal Control officers are urging residents to take precautions after coyotes recently attacked two children in Rye, N.Y.

On Tuesday, officials say a 3-year-old girl was attacked while playing in her backyard. Last Friday, a 6-year-old was also mauled by two coyotes.

Residents are being told to keep little children and pets inside, unless they plan on staying with them outside.

Animal Control officer Suzanne Carlin says to not leave food around and to contain recyclables. She says to make a lot of noise, clap your hands and do not run away from a coyote if approached.
