GREENWICH - A Greenwich man claims his business was duped out of nearly $8,000 by a man using a counterfeit check.

Rick Freeman, the owner of Check Cashing, says he paid a man last Thursday who appeared to possess a verified check. However, he later heard from the bank that the check was fake.

The suspect was captured on surveillance video, but is still on the loose.

In the meantime, Greenwich police say they're investigating the incident and will hold a seminar with local merchants next month to prevent similar incidents.
