GREENWICH - Greenwich officials say they're working on final arrangements at a local middle school so that it can serve as a human and animal shelter in the event of severe weather.

Eastern Middle School, located on Hendrie Avenue in the Riverside section of town, is getting transformed into a safe shelter for both humans and animals.

State Rep. Fred Camillo helped to spread the effort. The town says the school is ready to serve.

Town officials say the school housed some pets during Hurricane Sandy, but for next time, they say they'll be better prepared.
