STAMFORD - A threatening online post sent Stamford High School into lockdown on Friday.

Police say a 14-year-old student posted a picture on Instagram he took of another boy holding a long, fake gun with a caption saying, "Stamford High School people don't come to school tomorrow."

Although the photo was posted Thursday night and the student was arrested early Friday morning, the school was still put on a "soft" lockdown, meaning all exterior doors were locked and entry was limited to the main entrance. There was a high police presence, but classes continued as usual.

The school system says the lockdown started around 7:30 a.m. and was lifted a few hours later.

Police say the Instagram post was taken down immediately. They say the boy in the photo was not charged.

There were also lockdowns this week at Darien and Greenwich high schools after threats were found in bathrooms.
