NORWALK - Members of the Haitian American Society have gathered in Norwalk City Hall to form a plan to help those affected by the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti on Tuesday night.

The Red Cross estimates that 3 million people have been affected by the damage from the 7.0-magnitude earthquake, which struck just outside the capital city of Port-au-Prince.

"You see people in the street helpless, the roads are crumbled, people can't get through," Gerry Azor of the United Haitian American Society said. "Even if you get through the airport right now, to go to another part of Port-au-Prince, roads are crumbling."

Anyone looking for information on loved ones in Haiti can call the U.S. State Department at 1-888-407-4747.
