Halloween shoppers not spooked by economy

NORWALK - With Halloween just days away, some costume stores in southwestern Connecticut say sales are better than ever despite a tough economic climate.

Seema Dohil, of Happy Daze costume store in Norwalk, says since Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, customers are willing to spend a little more to dress up for trick-or-treating and late-night parties.

She says some of her most popular costumes include '60s, '70s and '80s getups. However, the most popular costume this year is that of Michael Jackson.

"Although he's always been popular just because of his celebrity, he's never been popular to this extreme," Dohil says.
