STAMFORD - One day after he was arrested for allegedly defrauding the Board of Education, the head custodian at a Stamford middle school said today he is totally innocent.

Police say as head custodian at Rippowam Middle School, 65-year-old Andrew Shavers would often leave his post while he was still clocked in. Officials say they found out he was leaving by following him.

Authorities say that say several other custodians at the school on High Ridge Road are also under investigation.

Police have charged Shavers with second-degree larceny for allegedly defrauding the Board of Education.

Shavers denies the allegations, and says he is a victim of a deliberate campaign to drive him out of his job. He has also made charges of racism.
