MILFORD - Milford police are investigating after someone took the head of a dead sea turtle at Cedar Beach.

The carcass of a leatherback turtle washed ashore earlier this week.

Officials from the Peabody museum in New Haven say they arrived to pick up the body today, but found the head missing.

Sea turtles are federally protected and tampering with their body is considered a crime.
