STAMFORD - Dr. Michael Perry, the chief of infectious disease at Stamford Hospital, says a wave of H1N1 cases is likely to sweep southwestern Connecticut.

The Centers for Disease Control says Connecticut is one of only four states still not reporting widespread influenza activity, including seasonal flu and H1N1. However, Perry says the number of positive swine flu tests is on the rise.

Stamford Hospital is implementing new visiting rules under which no one younger than 18 will be allowed to visit the pediatric, labor and delivery units.

Local schools are also beginning to take precautions. The superintendent of the Darien School District says he has postponed an elementary school assembly.
