STRATFORD - Heavy rain caused severe flooding in many areas of Connecticut today.

The flooding was so severe on Stratford's Surf Avenue that two cars nearly became submerged. The drivers got out of the water safely.

Many trees were uprooted and some leaned on power lines.

Experts say drivers should exercise caution because hydroplaning is not uncommon after such a storm.
