STAMFORD - Communities throughout southwestern Connecticut took time today to prepare for what could be a very stormy night and morning.

Rain came down on and off throughout the day and News 12 Connecticut meteorologists say more rain is on the way.

Stamford Operations Director Ernie Orgera says that pattern of on-and-off rain is what saved the city from serious flooding problems, but that it doesn't mean Stamford is in the clear when it comes to flooding.

City officials say they made sure storm drains were clear and ready to handle the next wave of heavy rain.
