EASTON - Easton First Selectman Tom Herrmann threw his hat in the ring Wednesday announcing he's a candidate for the Republican nomination to challenge Jim Himes for his congressional seat.

Herrmann touted his experience in the private sector as he currently works at a private equity firm in Wilton. He says he is starting with about $300,000 in campaign funds, most of that self financed.
