NORWALK - Due to an increase in gas prices, more drivers are turning to car pooling for their commutes.

Stamford-based MetroPool says since gas prices have risen, they have seen a big jump in interest. The company says month-to-month they?ve seen an increase compared to last year. Officials also say 359 new riders signed up for car pooling in the past month.

MetroPool officials say most people hesitate before signing up for car pooling because they expect the cost of gas to come back down. However, they say now people are starting to think that gas prices will never come down.

Other commuters are using mass transit to save from paying for gas. Metro-North says ridership was up nearly 4 percent overall in 2007, and that's when gas prices were much less expensive.
