REDDING - A hiker has been hospitalized after surviving a 30-foot fall from a stony ledge near the Redding-Weston border.

Officials say the Antonio Boehm, 31, was among a small group who set out early Saturday morning for Devil's Den, a popular hiking destination. At some point, Boehm fell off the Great Ledge, a steep, rocky precipice in the area.

After the fall, a dozen rescue workers carried the fallen hiker over 2 miles of untamed forest to a waiting ambulance that rushed him to the hospital.

Officials have not released Boehm?s current condition, although witnesses said his injuries appeared serious. News 12 Connecticut is following the story and will provide updates.
