FAIRFIELD - While the holiday season brings bright lights and glitz, police suggest that southwestern Connecticut residents stay aware of their surroundings.

One important precaution to remember is to walk with confidence to avoid becoming an easy target for thieves. Shopping bags should also be tucked under one?s arm to make it more difficult for burglars to snatch personal belongings.

A Fairfield Police Department officer says to call security if ever in doubt or fear.

Shoppers are strongly advised to walk in pairs in parking lots and to report any suspicious activity.
