Hundreds attend funeral for officer killed in hit-and-run

DANBURY - Hundreds of police officers from southwestern Connecticut, as well as parts of New England and New York, said goodbye today to a Danbury officer killed in a hit-and-run accident.

Police from Greenwich, Stamford and Bridgeport were among those in attendance for the funeral at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.Officer Donald Hassiak, 41, was struck by a car while riding his bicycle to work last week along Route 7 in New Milford, investigators say.

Police say they believe they know who hit Officer Hassiak.
