EASTON - Hundreds of people are petitioning to save the Easton K-9 unit, whose future looks grim.

The Easton Police Department has one dog, which it expects to retire in the coming months. The dog's name is Chase and he is almost 13 years old.

A resident who attended a recent board of finance meeting says the town will allocate funds toward the department and that it was a staffing issue.

The next meeting on the topic will be held at the Easton Public Library on April 8 at 5:30 p.m.
