FAIRFIELD - Fairfield police are searching for an armed man who they say robbed a jewelry store on Black Rock Turnpike Wednesday.

According to investigators, a masked gunman held up Shaw's Jewelers at Tunxis Hill Corner Shopping Center at around 10:15 a.m. Police say the suspect threatened the store's three employees with a gun and locked them in a back room.

The robber than allegedly stole an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry before taking off on foot.

Bridgeport police used dogs to scour the area around the store, but the canines were unable to find a trail.
