NEWTOWN - Saturday marks the one-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting.

News 12 Connecticut spoke exclusively with Bill Sherlach, who lost his wife Mary, a school psychologist.

Sherlach says that when he found out his wife had been killed, he had to make a choice to either be overcome by grief or to turn the tragedy into something positive.

Sherlach and his family started Mary's Fund to raise money that goes to helping children.

In its first year, Mary's Fund has raised about $500,000.
