DARIEN - All lanes of I-95 in Darien reopened Wednesday afternoon after a gasoline truck caught fire and closed the highway.

Officials say the truck driver noticed something wrong with the vehicle, pulled over on the southbound side of the highway about a mile later near Exit 13, smelled smoke and exited the truck just before 1 p.m.

Fire officials say that is when the driver told them his engine burst into flames. The truck was carrying 8,000 gallons of gas at the time, but there are no fuel lines leading from the tank to the cab.

The highway was reopened about an hour later.

News 12 reached out to the company that owns the truck, Kenan Advantage, for comment, but has not yet heard back.
