STAMFORD - The attorney for a Stamford man who was serving 25 years in a federal prison in Pennsylvania for shooting a police officer in the face says his client died Friday after a fight with another inmate.

Ephraim Goitom, 29, was convicted of shooting officer Richard Gasparino during a drug raid at his home in Stamford in 2010.

Gasparino made a full recovery.

Attorney Darnel Crosland says the prison was placed on lockdown and an investigation into Goitom's death is under way.
