BRIDGEPORT - An inmate at the Bridgeport Correctional Center has died of an apparent suicide.

The state Department of Corrections and state police are investigating the death of Joseph Rodriguez, 33.

The Stratford man was serving a two-year sentence for third-degree burglary.

He had been at the Bridgeport facility for less than a week.

Rodriguez was a graduate of Bunnell High School in 1997 and spent three years at Southern Connecticut State University, according to his brother.
