John Phipps became the fourth student from Middlesex Middle School to win the Connecticut Geographic Bee title.

DARIEN - A student from Middlesex Middle School will represent Connecticut in the National Geographic Bee championship next month.

John Phipps became the fourth student from Middlesex Middle School to win the state title.

The sixth-grader said he has been working toward this since getting his first geography book.

School librarian Barbara Ivey has been the geography coach each time a student was sent to the finals.
