Jury hears testimony from DiMeo's former girlfriend

The trial of a man accused of murdering two Fairfield jewelers six years ago resumed today, with testimony from the suspect?s former girlfriend being played

FAIRFIELD - The trial of a man accused of murdering two Fairfield jewelers six years ago resumed today, with testimony from the suspect?s former girlfriend being played for the jury.

Nicole Pearce, who is battling stage-four cervical cancer, was recorded in her hospital bed last week.

Pearce broke down several times as she described her role in a string of robberies she and Christopher DiMeo allegedly committed.

In the video, she said they were addicted to heroin when they decided to start robbing jewelry stores.  Pearce said they scouted several stores in Fairfield and that it was DiMeo who selected Donnelly Jewelry to rob.

Closing arguments in the case are set to begin tomorrow morning.
