BRIDGEPORT - The jury in the murder trial of a man accused of opening fire at a public housing project says it is deadlocked for the third time.
Thursday marked the fifth day of deliberations in the trial of Jamal Hamilton, who is accused of shooting nine people at Trumbull Gardens in June 2015. One of those shootings was fatal.
Hamilton's attorney has said all along that there is simply not enough evidence in the case.
Prosecutors allege that Hamilton fired at least some shots during the incident. One of the nine victims, Savonie McNeil, died.
Police said McNeil, of Shelton, was an innocent bystander.
The judge presiding over the trial has still not said how long he plans to keep having the jury deliberate before dismissing them and declaring a mistrial.
