SOUTHPORT - Residents throughout Fairfield County and the tri-state area ran lemonade stands this weekend to help give back to their communities.

Al's Angels hosted its first "Angel-ade" event Saturday. The nonprofit organization works to help children in need or who suffer from life-threatening illnesses.

More than 100 lemonade stands raised money and awareness for the organization's mission.

Local businesses joined the effort, and employees say they were happy to serve up lemonade for a good cause.

Organizers tell News 12 that the money will go toward helping families battling cancer, in addition to food and gifts during the holiday season for those in need.
