BRIDGEPORT - Voters headed to the polls in three southwestern Connecticut communities today to cast their ballots for two special elections.
Democrat Carlo Leone defeated Republican hopeful Bob Kolenberg for the 27th District's state Senate seat in Stamford and Darien, which had been vacated by former state Sen. Andrew McDonald.
In Bridgeport, Democrat Charlie Stallworth won the state representative seat in the 126th House District to replace former Rep. Chris Caruso.
Both McDonald and Caruso left their seats to take jobs in Gov. Dannel Malloy's (D-Conn.) new administration.
