FAIRFIELD - Police say the body of a beloved local artist was discovered Saturday morning in a creek in Fairfield.

Investigators say they found Nikolay Papp, a painter and local business owner, in about 2 feet of water in a creek near Riverside Drive and Post Road.

Police say there was no indication of foul play, but they are trying to determine if the man died from an accident or a medical condition. The state medical examiner will conduct an autopsy.

Papp leaves behind a wife and child. A family friend says among the clients and admirers of Papp's artwork were former President Bill Clinton and actress Kathleen Turner.
