MILFORD - Firefighters from several local communities pitched in to help in the search and rescue operation following a power plant explosion Sunday in Middletown.
Four firefighters from Milford, five from Bridgeport and more from Greenwich and Fairfield all were involved.
All of them are members of the state's volunteer urban search and rescue team.
The team trains about 20 hours a month to prepare for disasters like the Middletown explosion.
One Milford firefighter says the team was formed after the Sept. 11th attacks because they realized they didn't have the proper training for disasters.
