STAMFORD - Many people from the southwestern Connecticut area are heading to the nation's capital this weekend to mark the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s March on Washington.

Jack Bryant, president of the Stamford NAACP, says about 100 Fairfield County NAACP members will make the trip to Washington, DC.

Dolores Burgess says that she was 16 when she marched on Washington and it was one of the most important events of her life. Now, at 66, she's driving back to Washington to experience the memory again.

King made his famous "I Have A Dream" speech there on Aug. 28, 1963.

The anniversary date actually falls on next Wednesday, but thousands will celebrate the march tomorrow at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
