HARTFORD - Gov. Dannel Malloy is encouraging residents to stay home and off the highways during the snowstorm.

Malloy says residents haven't seen this kind of cold weather in 15-18 years.

Malloy says much of his efforts have been devoted to making sure people survive the frigid temperatures. Crews are reaching out to homeless people to get them inside.

About 6-10 inches of snow is expected by the end of the storm.
