HARTFORD - Gov. Dannel Malloy met with utility officials today and then held a news conference to discuss statewide preparations for Hurricane Sandy.

Malloy says extra workers have been brought to Connecticut to deal with potential power outages, flooding and transportation issues.

The governor also says residents need to prepare now by stocking up on food, water, first aid kits and flashlights.

Malloy says emergency shelters will be opening around the state and also says that residents can sign up to receive updates on the storm from state officials.
