HARTFORD - Both candidates in the race for governor are claiming they expect victory in the closely contested race.

Republican Tom Foley and Democrat Dan Malloy both gave statements around 1 a.m. when each proclaimed that they would prevail.

Meanwhile, votes still remain to be counted in several cities across the state.
