Man falls into garbage chute

Officials say a man was throwing out trash from his van when he fell off the ledge and plunged 15 feet.

NORWALK - Fire officials in Norwalk say a man is recovering after a freak accident at the city's dump.

They say the man was throwing out trash from his van when he fell off the ledge and plunged 15 feet into the trash chute.

It happened at the Trash Transfer Station on Crescent Street.

Staff had already pulled the man from the dumpster when firefighters arrived yesterday morning.

The man was taken to Norwalk Hospital and is expected to be OK.
