MILFORD - A Hamden man was sentenced Monday to 60 years in prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend in Milford.

Prosecutors say Matthew Pugh beat aspiring actress Alexandra Ducsay to death in the basement of her Booth Bay Street home in May 2006.

A jury found Pugh guilty of murder this past March.

Duscay's family says that although the sentence does not give them closure, they feel that justice was served.

Police have said that Pugh and Ducsay dated in the '90s, but their relationship ended when Pugh was sent to jail for dealing drugs.

Ducsay had her own charity and is said to have been active in the community. Her family donates to various charities every year in her memory.
