BRIDGEPORT - Police say a man is in the hospital this evening following a water rescue off the pier near Water Street.

Officials say that someone on the fishing pier spotted what looked like a dead body floating in the water at around 9:45 a.m.

When Harbor Patrol lassoed the man onto a boat from the water, they were shocked when he opened his eyes and maintained a strong pulse.
