BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport police are searching for a man who shot and wounded another man Monday.

The shooting happened at around 1 p.m. in front of the popular Big Deli Groceries store on East Main Street in Bridgeport.

The victim walked out of the store and was shot in the abdomen.

Police say the victim was on foot when the gunman approached and shot him. Police stayed on the scene for a few hours following the attack and report that no one else was hurt.

In the store's surveillance video, it appears that the victim was called over by the suspect and then shot while he tried to run away.

Officials say that the suspect fired a shot and then took off in a car. Police do not have a description of the vehicle yet.

Police say that the victim was sent to Bridgeport Hospital for a serious injury. The injury is not believed to be life-threatening.
