STAMFORD - The large turnout of a summer concert series in downtown Stamford led to arrests and people being denied entry to the show.

Stamford Police Assistant Chief Tom Wuennemann says several officers were deployed in riot gear to the Alive@Five concert. He says some people were arrested for failing to comply with the officers' orders.

Officials say this was the first all season that the concert reached full capacity. They say that by 6:30 p.m., thousands of people had to be stopped from coming in, and it took about an hour for the crowd to be dispersed to nearby sidewalks.

Police were also called to an unattended bag at a bank on nearby Main Street. The situation was cleared within a short period of time. Police say it could have been related to the large concert crowd.
