Mayor: Stratford strong, economy weak

STRATFORD - Stratford Mayor John Harkins called his town "strong," but its finances "weak" during his annual State of the Town address Tuesday.

Harkins voiced optimism despite money problems, commenting that from bad comes good.

"It's one thing to identify problems, and it seems as though people are good at doing that ? but we need some problem solvers," said the mayor. "We're looking to get people excited about the town."

Harkins recently unveiled a budget proposal calling for drastic cuts. He says Stratford has no choice but to do "less with less."
