BRIDGEPORT - The Democratic primary election is just days away, and the candidates for Bridgeport mayor were out Sunday encouraging voters to head to the polls.

The three candidates on the Democratic ballot, Joe Ganim, Mary-Jane Foster and current Mayor Bill Finch, each attended church services and spoke with churchgoers.

Experts say that churchgoers also tend to be regular voters.

As the primary approaches, all of the candidates told News 12 Connecticut they plan to be shaking hands and trying to win over undecided voters.

The candidates are reminding the many unaffiliated voters that they can still take part in the primary on Wednesday if they register as Democrats by noon on Tuesday.

Officials say unaffiliated voters who want to register as Democrats can do so at the Margaret E. Morton Government Center at 999 Broad St.
