BRIDGEPORT - Mayors from three cities spoke today about a new plan to help reduce violence this summer on their city streets.

Gov. Dannel Malloy, U.S. Attorney for Connecticut David Fine and representatives from Bridgeport, Hartford, and New Haven discussed a new "focused deterrence strategy" to be implemented in those cities.

Officials say the strategy involves using state criminal justice resources to crack down on violence and narcotics trafficking.

They say the initiative comes from proven strategies and is already producing results. Officials say it will be implemented in all three cities in several months.
