NEW HAVEN - (AP) - A state official says one of two mencharged with killing a mother and two daughters during a homeinvasion more than two years ago is facing a medical emergency.
Chief state's attorney Kevin Kane said Sunday that Steven Hayeshas "undergone some kind of apparent medical emergency."
The New Haven Register reports that prison guards found Hayesunconscious in his cell Sunday morning, and he was taken to ahospital and put in a medically induced coma. The report citesunidentified sources.
Neither public defender Thomas J. Ullmann nor a University ofConnecticut Hospital nursing supervisor would confirm thosedetails.
Ullmann says jury selection scheduled for Monday has beenhalted.
