Medical examiner: Drugs a factor in drowning death of Newtown teen

MONROE - The state  medical examiner has ruled that the drowning of a high school senior in Monroe last May was an accident, but found that drugs were also a factor.

Police say Danielle Jacobsen, of Newtown, was found in a pond in front of a condo complex on Route 25 after going to a party. They say she experimented with a hallucinogenic drug at the party.

A 22-year-old Newtown man faces charges for allegedly bringing the drug to the party.  Police say because Jacobsen's death was accidental, and not an overdose, no additional counts will be lodged against him.
