STRATFORD - Parents and students in Stratford could learn the fate of several local elementary schools tonight.

A town meeting will be held to discuss several cost-cutting measures, including the possible closings of Lordship, Franklin, Nichols, Wilcoxson and Honeyspot elementary schools.

Parents say town leaders should look for other ways for the town to save money. They say if other schools in the area absorb those displaced by a closure, the number of kids per classroom will go up across the district and the quality of their kids' education will go down.
