NEWTOWN - Memorials to the 26 people killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School are appearing around Newtown this weekend, as emotions remain raw following Friday's shooting.

At one memorial on Church Hill Road, 26 votive bags, each containing a candle, have been set up amid flowers and stuffed animals left as tributes to the 20 children and 6 adults who were shot and killed.

Robert Parker, whose 6-year-old daughter, Emilie, was killed, released a statement last night on the incident and urged everyone to remain loving and compassionate towards each other.
