NORWALK - Thousands of Metro-North passengers were told to evacuate train stations today after a security warning was played by mistake.

According to officials, an automated message warning passengers of a bomb threat was heard at all stations on the New Haven line around 8 a.m. They say the announcement was the result of a computer glitch.

Metro-North says an announcement telling riders about their train service to Yankee Stadium was supposed to play. A second message was made within minutes assuring everyone there was no danger.

Officials say they are investigating why the computer played the wrong audio file and are sorry for any fear it may have caused.
